A few days after Mom & Dad left my friends Erika & Laura from CC arrived. They had been volunteering in Nicaragua then traveling Central America, so I convinced them to come dive Roatan. The very next day Mark, Rita, Phil and George arrived. The weather was awful up until Erin arrived on Christmas Eve. Laura unfortunately had to return to the US to get rabies shots (long story!). Consequently Erika did not want to continue traveling Central America by herself, and now is staying here in Roatan and living with me for the next month! It's really great to have a roommate and a girl friend here.
Mark, Phil, George and I all went the SHARK DIVE! It was incredible. A dive shop on the South side takes you out to a location on the reef where lots of female Caribbean Reef Sharks go. They bring just 1lb of fish along in a bucket which is enough to entice the sharks, but not enough that they rely on the feedings. As we first descended into the "shark infested waters," I got a little panicked. But before long I was comfortably swimming around with 6ft sharks! We counted over 20!
Unfortunately Uncle Mark surfaced missing an arm and a leg!
In other news... I got a job! Bartending at the Green Flash Bar at Land's End Resort. So now I'm bartending just 3 days a week and it's pretty fun. Below is a photo of Erin and Phil with the beautiful sunset view from the bar! (notice infinity pool and hammock)
We all went diving for Christmas morning! Quite a good Christmas present I would say. I had a really fun week with Mark, Rita, Phil, and George plus Erin and Erika. (And I thought I would be alone on Christmas!)
